SNOW and Pumpkins

We had our first snow of the season yesterday.

So what better to do on a snowy October day...carve PUMPKINS!

Jamie is really not into cleaning out pumpkins. He said they where stinky.  Rebecca liked sitting with us as we made a mess. The final product turned out really cute but I need to get candles before I can post pictures. Now it is time for some hot coco and snuggling with my babies :)

Lightning McQueen!!

So a little recap, James went to California for Blizzcon a gaming convention for 4 days. The kids and I ran Grandma's daycare for 3 days so she could make a quick trip to Kansas and finalize some things on her house back there. So to keep ourselves occupied Saturday the kids and I went to the Children's Museum of Denver to see Lightning McQueen, and his side kick Mator.

After 3 HOURS in line we finally got to take our pictures with the cars. Thank heaven our friends Kaleigh and Skyler where there to keep us company.

I am so proud of my babies. The whole 3 hours not a single meltdown. Jamie was a little whinny near the end, but that is to be expected when mommy forgot snacks and drinks. Rebecca enjoyed her Moby Wrap. She got to see what was going on, eat, and sleep in it while we waited. I learned our lesson though. We are not going to fight with 1,000 other people to see an event on the weekend for a VERY LONG time. I love being a stay at home mom and planning things when most people are working. Makes outings much more enjoyable for us. Next week is trick or treat week at the museum so we may venture back down for that.

James is on his way home today, and the kids and I are supper excited! We have missed him!

Pumpkin Patch

Every years since Jamie was born we went to Nick's for our pumpkin picking and fall fun. They have a train, hay rides, hay maze, bouncy castles, wood cut outs for pictures, and of course pumpkins galore! I have enjoyied making this a yearly thing and getting pictures that we can look back on and say "this was the year you where _ age and this is how big you got by the next year!"

Pictures are my weakness. I take a 100's of pictures and feel guilty if I don't have like 30 from each month of my kids first year of life. I want to always be able to look into those innocent faces. To remember all the smiles and how they just make my heart melt with the little cute things they do.

Anyway on to the man attraction: our pumpkin outing! This year we where cut short because of rain. So I did not get nearly as many as I wanted or planned. We still had fun and got ice cream afterwards.

Jamie was scared of the giant pumpkins.
 Jamie the SUPER HERO!!
If I had my other computer tower hooked up I could show you his picture form last year. He is doing the same thing with his finger then too!
Rebecca wanted the hay. She is also wearing Jamie's first Halloween costume. It was the warmest thing we have that fits her right now, and she looked really cute in it! You can't tell but she has a pink bow to help make it girly. :)
Jamie on his first train ride!
She just loves her brother. He is always making her smile and laugh.

I wanted to get pictures of the kids siting with pumpkins all around, but by the time Jamie and I finished the hay maze it was beginning to down pour. Oh well, we still got some good memories today!

Baby Leg Warmers Tutorial

So I love the idea of not having to talk pants off a kid to change their diaper, but hate the cost of those cute Baby Legs. I just can't justify them. SO why not make your own out of the ever popular toe socks!
There are many tutorials out there on baby legs, but I wanted to show you how I made mine.

HERE WE GO!

Start with your $2 socks from the thrift store.
Cut the length you want (mine where short so I just cut the toes off.)
Cut a 6-7 inch elastic for the unfinished end, and turn your sock inside out.
Pin the elastic to the sock stretching the elastic so you get a good fit.
Its going to bunch a little but if you pull the elastic as you saw it comes out right.

Using your zig zag stitch sew the elastic to your sock.
Fold over 2 times so you inclose the elastic.
You can also just sew a pocket and string the elastic through as shown in other tutorials.
Sew along the edge to secure the fold, and...
YOUR DONE!
Now your little one has baby leg warmers!

I love them and they go GREAT with her purple diaper!

Oh the life...

Well our life has been a little crazy. We moved the computer out of Jamie's room now that he has the side off his crib. Manly because my I-Pod home sat on the desk and he was putting CD's in and out of it on his own. Since he already ruined the I-Pod rest by pulling the I-Pod off, I did not want him to break the CD part.

We also switched computer towers (the other one was more for pictures, and this one is more for James gaming) I don't have the right cable to upload pictures right now. The other tower had a slot for my memory card as here this one just has USB hookups. So no pictures today, sorry.

Anyway, since last week Rebecca had a stomachs bug. She could not keep a feeding down for about 24 hours. It was quite sad. She was a happy smiley little thing though. She is much better now, and has started what I like to call "singing" all the time. She will start cooing and just making noise and it goes on and on and on. It is the cutest thing. I have video but like I said above it will have to wait for another post.

Jamie is his same old wild self. His new things (if I need a few minutes to get something done, or just to use the bathroom in peace) is pictures and stamping. He loves to get a hold of my camera or phone and snap shots of everything. I love that he is also into crafts and stamps. The other day I let him use some stamps and an ink pad. He loved it. He even took a few stamps to bed (after they had been cleaned off). He is my art boy. I can convince him to do anything that has paint or ink or glue involved.

So that is what is going on around here. Until I get the appropriate cable to hook my camera up to the computer I am afraid the blog will be a little boring since the kids pictures are kind of a center piece to this.
